Hamidashi Midori’ comes from the Japanese and means ‘spreading green’. The context of ‘Hamidashi Midori’ is that of small urban gardens, which in Japan often begin on the doorstep and extend into the public realm.
The Hamidashi Midori installation, conceived for Expo 2025 in Osaka, initiates an interaction between visitors and a platform based on a map that traces spaces around the world that need to be redesigned, taking into account the planetary dimension. Participants will be able to mark on the map, with the help of artificial intelligence, the spaces in their neighbourhood that they think could be redesigned.
